How to connect the Memory Write MCP Tool to Claude Desktop

Enables long-term fact retention by committing key-value data to a persistent SQLite database. This guide provides the exact configuration required to load the memory_write tool inside Claude Desktop.

Step 1: Open the configuration file

Locate and open your Claude Desktop configuration file at the following path:

macOS / Linux~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

Windows%APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json

Step 2: Add the server config

Copy and paste the following JSON snippet into the file. Save the file and restart Claude Desktop.

Step 3: Try it out
